Colorado Mountain Adventure

Come join us for a great 3-day event in the Colorado Mountains.

It will be held on Friday July 21st through Sunday July 23rd 2017.

Event coordinator:  Dave Breggin

Friday will be a short trail with tech sessions on Winching & Recovery, Trail Spotting, and Field Expediencies.

Saturday will be an all-day trail.  Sunday will be a little shorter, planning to end in the middle of the afternoon.

We will spend a good bit of time above 10000 feet, a great way to beat the summer heat.  We will be running trails on National Forest & BLM land to the west of Denver.  Exact trails will be determined at the event so we can accommodate everyone.  We have a huge network of trails to choose from with all levels of difficulty. Trails are usually hard dirt with imbedded rock, some loose rock, not much mud but a little rain can change everything.  Most trails are forested, so mild pin-striping is always possible.  No vehicle body damage is anticipated.

Mechanical support is by Darrell of Hinsdale Automotive.
Dave from BlueHummer will have parts, tools, and advice.

Schedule

Driver’s meeting each day at 9:00 AM, meeting place to be determined.

The Uwharrie National Forest is a federally designated forest located in central NC. Our pre-run in July revealed that the trails offer some very technical spots and numerous water breaks cutting across the trails. The trails are clearly marked and have many guard rails to keep you going in the right direction. The trail system is perfect for the beginner yet offers challenges to all. If it rains just prior to, or during the event, then “HANG ON TO YOUR HATS”. The red clay mud is going to make the day interesting…

The event hotel will be the Days Inn located in Biscoe, NC. They have blocked off rooms for attendees at a very reasonable rate. Their number is (910) 428-2525.

This ia  NO FEE event. Event is open to all Club Members. Long sleeve T-shirts will be ordered and made available for purchase at the event.

The legend of Moab continues!

THE ZOMBIE HUNT IS BACK!

Two years ago we cleaned them out – the Zombies were gone.  We ran their sorry souls right outta town.  Unfortunately, some have crept back.  Some hiding in transport trucks, some in the back of Jeeps and some have simply staggered across the desert.

Once again it falls on the Hummer community to clean the Zombies out so that all off roaders can enjoy the majesty of Moab without the threat of zombies damaging trucks on the trails and at night while we sleep.

We stepped up before and we’ll do it again!

The Hummer Club’s 2016 Moab Zombie Hunt!

The 2014 event was so much fun we just had to do it again, let’s go!

Once again we’ll be running a pre-event out of Durango, Colorado, for 3 wicked days of off roading in New Mexico and amazing high altitude Colorado.  We’ll spend a day transferring to Moab, Utah, for a welcome dinner then 4 days on the trails that have made Moab famous.  It all closes with an award’s dinner on the last day.  You can attend the pre-event, the main event or both.  Here’s an insider’s tip – if you’ve never done the pre-event – do it.  It’s incredible.

Here’s the 411

Pre-event wheeling in the Durango, CO area: Sept. 15, 16 and 17.
Transfer to Moab: Sept. 18
Main event wheeling in the Moab area: Sept. 19, 20, 21 and 22

Pre-event Description

We’ll run high altitude trails north of Durango in the Ouray area.  We’ll explore old gold mining towns, old mine sites and drive on historical trails and high mountain passes.  The scenery is literally breathtaking.  We’ll also run Secret and Grim Reaper in the Aztec, New Mexico, area.  If you’ve never wheeled in this area, be sure to give it a shot.  The pre-event really makes the effort to get to Moab worthwhile, it’s really the jewel of the Moab event.

Wednesday, Sept. 14: Participants arrive in Durango and check into their hotels for the pre event.  We have registration in the event hotel lobby at 7:00pm.
Thursday September 15: Pre-event trails in the Durango area begin at 8:00am.
Friday, September 16: Pre-event trail day.

Saturday, September 17: Pre-event trail day.

Sunday, September 18: Transfer day to Moab.  Everyone is on their own but I suggest a very quick visit to Mesa Verde National Park on the way.  It’s an amazing part of American history.

Main Event Description

On Sept. 18th, we’ll gather for our Welcome Dinner and REGISTRATION at 7:00pm in Rotary Park in Moab.  We’ll have vendor displays and a buffet style tailgate dinner – with incredible food from The Blu Pig.  Yum.

Once in Moab the Zombie Hunting really takes off!  Decorate your truck and be ready to fight the Zombies!  We’ll be running the usual Zombie hiding places, Metal Masher, Hells Revenge, Flat Iron Mesa and others.

Monday, September 19:  Moab trail day.  ZOMBIE HUNT!

2016 Moab Zombie Hunt

Some Notable Information

  • Driver’s meeting each morning at the departure point. Be fueled up and have a lunch packed each trail day. Also bring extra water and some extra snacks.
  • A CB for communication is required.
  • Be certain that your truck is well maintained and that it is in good operational condition.
  • Be prepared for long trail days, you never know what might happen ‘out there’ with the Zombies!
  • Unfortunately there’s an obstacle (Mirror Gulch) that just hates H2 tie-rods. You’ll only be allowed on this trail in an H2 if you carry at least one spare tie-rod. It’s difficult and there’s no bypass. It’s just the configuration of the rocks and the particular dimensions of an H2’s front end that make it difficult on H2 tie-rods.

    Mechanical Support
As with all Hummer Club events, we will be self-supporting. Of course you will have the assistance of other members should anyone have any issues, but plan on being as prepared as possible with a few common spare parts and tools.

Join The Hummer Club, Inc for an off-road event at one of Pennsylvania's premier parks.

Rausch Creek Off Road Park is devoted to providing a fun place for off-road enthusiasts to go four-wheeling.  The park consists of almost 3,000 acres of easy, intermediate, and difficult trails – featuring rocks, bowls, hills, club friendly trails, and free, on-site camping. A great park for Hummers.

The Park consists of over 30+ miles of trails for almost every type of four-wheel drive vehicle; from stock to pro rock buggies. The trail network offers some of the easiest four-wheel drive trails to some of the toughest rock crawling trails in the country. Rausch Creek also has one of the only man-made concrete/all-natural rock crawling courses in the country to test your skills from beginners, to pro competition drivers. For more information on the trails and the park click here

The club will be hosting a two day event at Rausch Creek ORV, PA.  Rausch Creek is within easy driving distance of many cities near the East Coast.  For those who haven't been to the AOAA events, the park is about 20 miles from AOAA off of I-81.  We are having a trail guide that knows these trails well and will lead us to maximize our fun time on the trails.

Event Hotel: The home base for this event will be the Country Inn and Suites, 100 Keystone Blvd East, Pottsville, Pennsylvania.  Latitude 40.735619   Longitude -76.30170    Phone 570.544.5201

Park Fees:
Rausch Creek Off Road Park is a membership-based facility. All drivers and passengers must sign a membership application & liability waiver. Drivers and passengers age 16 and up are required to become members of the park which costs $15 per year and is good for one year from the date you join. Membership cards are given out when you join.

The daily park entrance fee is $40.00 for the vehicle and driver. Passengers age 16 and up are $7.00 each (When a passenger joins the park, the $7.00 fee is waived that day).

So for two days, total park fees for the driver will be $95, plus the passengers fees + event fees.  Those of you who kept their membership card from last year will not need to renew for this event will just need to pay the day fees, not membership fees ($15). The 2015 Hummer Club - Moab Reunion

It’s been 20 years.  20 amazing, fun filled years.  Yep, the Hummer Club has been visiting Moab every September for 2 decades – and every event has been incredible. Once again the main event will take place in Moab, Utah with a low-cost pre-event in Durango, Colorado.    If you choose to do both events you’ll experience some of the world’s most incredible off-roading.  We’ll visit 3 states, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.   From high altitude ghost towns and abandoned gold mines to the scrubby desert of New Mexico.  From stunning mesa’s to deep river valley’s – we’re doing it all.  This is THE event of the year!

The optional pre-event starts in Durango, Colorado.  We’ll meet up in the event hotel lobby at 7:00pm on September 16th for registration.  We’ll wheel near Aztec, New Mexico and near Ouray, Colorado on Sept. 17, 18 and 19th.  On Sept. 20 we’ll transfer to Moab, Utah to meet up with those that are choosing to do only the main event in Moab.  I strongly recommend that you visit Mesa Verde on the way to Moab.  Google ‘Mesa Verde Cliff Houses’ – it’s incredible.

We’ll arrive in Moab, freshen up, then head over to Rotary Park for the Welcome Dinner at 7:00pm.  This is where everything gets going.  You’ll get some event swag, have great dinner and sign up for trails.

We’ll hit the trails on Sept. 21, 22, 23 and 24.  BOOYA!

On the 24th we’ll finish up the event with an awards dinner at the event hotel breakfast room – starting at 7:00pm.

Rooms are very limited so book your room early!  Seriously, book early!  Be sure to mention The Hummer Club!  Also, make sure you understand their cancellation policy.

Pre-event Description:
Aztec and Durango: We’ll run the incredible Grim Reaper and Secret.  Secret is a Hummer only ‘top secret trail’ – hence the name, Secret.  We’ll also run high elevation trails near Ouray, Colorado.  Bring a camera, and clean underwear!  It’s not only wicked scary, it’s wonderfully scenic.

Transfer Day:
This is the day that we drive from Durango, Colorado to Moab, Utah for the main event.  I strongly suggest that anyone that hasn’t visited Mesa Verde do so – it’s on the way.  It’s not a wheeling place but it really is incredible.  Certainly worth a visit.  Google will tell you what you’ll miss if you don’t go.  It’s way cool.

In Moab we’ll run the trails that made Moab famous. Golden Spike, Moab Rim, Cliffhanger, Hells Revenge, Flat Iron Mesa (my favorite) and Metal Masher - some of the most iconic trails in the Moab area (trails may change).

Congregate at 7:00 pm at Rotary Park for a tailgate style buffet dinner and vendor displays.  Bring an appetite!

Monday, Sept. 21: Moab trail day.

Tuesday, Sept. 22: Moab trail day.  Annual General Meeting 7:00pm in the hotel conference room.  Board of directors meeting follows.

Some notable Information:

·         Driver’s meeting each morning at the departure point. Be fueled up and have a lunch packed each trail day.  Also bring extra water and some extra snacks.

·         A CB for communication is required.

·         Be certain that your truck is well maintained and that it is in good operational condition.

·         Be prepared for long trail days, you never know what might happen ‘out there’.

·         Unfortunately there’s an obstacle (Mirror Gulch) on the Metal Masher trail that just hates H2 tie-rods.  You’ll only be allowed on this trail in an H2 if you carry at least one spare tie-rod.  It’s a difficult obstacle and there’s no bypass.  It’s just the configuration of the rocks and the particular dimensions of an H2’s front end that make it difficult on tie-rods. There are several trails run every day so no one gets left out.

Mechanical Support:
As with all Hummer Club events, we will be self-supporting.  Of course you will have the assistance of other members should anyone have any issues but plan on being as prepared as possible with a few common spare parts and tools.

Colorado High-Country 2015

Come join us for a 3-day event in the Colorado high-country.

This free event will be held on Friday July 17th through Sunday July 19th, 2015.  Event coordinator:  Dave Breggin, HCI President.

Mechanical support is by members.  Dave from BlueHummer will have parts, tools, and advice.

Schedule

Driver’s meeting each day at 9:00 AM, meeting place to be determined.  Arrive at the meeting prepared for the day’s activities with fuel, food & water, clothing layers, and cameras.  CB radios required.

Friday July 17th:  Short trail with tech sessions.  Bring your questions, and plan on a relaxed, informative day.  Planned return to Denver area for dinner.

Saturday July 18th:  Trail day.  Trail to be determined.  Planned return to Denver area for dinner.

At last year’s Expedition Moab event, we received some reports that zombies, yes zombies, were tampering with our trucks.  While we slept in our comfortable hotel rooms, zombies, under the cover of darkness, were at work causing harm and mayhem.  This is not acceptable.

It’s alleged that they fiddled with transfer cases, differentials, idler arms, ball joints and even transmissions.  Some of their tampering caused serious issues – and this must be stopped.  Hummers, once again, will save the world - this time from zombie atrocities.  We owe it to the Hummer community and off roaders everywhere.  In 2014 The Hummer Club and its members will deliver!

The 2014 Hummer Club event in Moab will be a ZOMBIE HUNT!

No zombie is safe and no evil zombie deed will go unpunished.  Zombies will be hunted down and will face Hummer justice.  We will search and we will succeed.  We’ll hunt zombies in 3 states!  Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.  We’ll hunt Zombies during the day and during the night.  Run scared zombie, run scared.  We’re coming for you!

Your help is needed and your assistance required – these zombies must be stopped!

The latest reports are that Zombies have been attacking transfer cases and differentials in Durango, Colorado and Aztec, New Mexico – so we’ll start our hunt there on September 18th.  We’ll hunt high and low for 3 days, the 18th, 19th and the 20th.  Hey, when we say high – we mean high.  Up to elevations of 13,000 ft!

Then we’ll transfer to Moab on the 21st.  I suggest that you visit Mesa Verde on the way.  It’s alleged that zombies have been hiding in ancient Pueblo cliff houses.  If you’ve never been - the cliff houses are incredible and must be seen, but please take care, the zombies could be anywhere.  You’ll only get a short visit but it’s certainly worth seeing.  It’s incredible.

On the 21st we’ll have our welcome dinner, right now we’re planning to have it at Rotary Park, right in Moab.

We’ll start hunting zombies in earnest on the 22nd and we’ll also hunt on the 23rd, 24th and 25th.  We’ll finish off our hunt with a roasted zombie dinner in the hotel breakfast room.

It’s important that you help us at the 2014, Moab Zombie Hunt!

BE THERE!

Here’s the 411.
