Leatherwood 2026

The Hummer Club Inc. is returning to Leatherwood Off-Road Park to kick off the 2026 event season. Leatherwood continues to be one of the most approachable and versatile parks on our schedule, making it an excellent destination for both first-time attendees and seasoned club members.

Leatherwood is an expansive park with scenic views, relaxed trail riding, and plenty of seat time. If you are new to off-roading or have never attended a Hummer Club event before, this is one of the best opportunities to get involved. The park layout allows drivers to build confidence while still enjoying full days on the trails.

At the same time, Leatherwood offers plenty of more challenging terrain. Members who want to push their rigs will find harder trails, steeper climbs, and technical sections throughout the park. You can keep it easy, step things up, or mix both styles over the course of the weekend.

Leatherwood Off-Road Park is located in southeastern Kentucky and officially opened to the public in 2023. The park sits on the historic Leatherwood coal seam, once mined by the Blue Diamond Coal Company before operations ended roughly 30 years ago. Under new ownership, the abandoned coal land has been transformed into Kentucky’s largest off-road park, spanning approximately 50,000 acres with over 250 miles of trails, with continued expansion planned.

Event Dates

Optional pre-run day: March 26, 2026
Off-road days: March 27–28, 2026
Departure day: March 29, 2026

Pre-Run Day Information

The pre-run day is an optional bonus day held before the official event begins. This day gives an opportunity for the event coordinator/trail leaders to get a feel for current park and trail conditions, identify any closures or hazards, and better plan routes for the main event days.

Not all Hummer Club members attend the pre-run, and participation is usually limited to a smaller group. If you wish to tag along, you are welcome to do so. The pre-run day is informal, played by ear, and does not follow a rigid schedule like the main event days. It is a great opportunity to get extra offroad time.

Local Area and Park Access Information

The event hotel is located in Harlan, Kentucky, a small town in rural southeastern Kentucky. Harlan is a smaller sized city, but does offer basic amenities you may need during the event weekend. Within town, you will find grocery options, a Walmart, Dollar General, auto parts stores, gas stations, and several local restaurants where club members often choose to eat after a day out on the trails.

Because Harlan is a rural area, amenities are more limited compared to larger cities. If you need specialty items, vehicle parts, or anything specific, it is strongly recommended that you take care of those needs before arriving for the event.

The actual Leatherwood Off-Road Park is located in Slemp, Kentucky, which is not a traditional small town or city but rather a remote location. The drive from the hotel in Harlan to the park is approximately 30.5 miles and takes about 50 minutes each way, depending on road and weather conditions.

Because of the daily drive to and from the park, it is important that your Hummer is in good mechanical condition, with proper tire pressure, and capable of reliable on-road travel. Attendees should be prepared for mountain roads, winding highways, and limited cell service in some areas.

Cell phone coverage in Harlan is generally good. However, once you leave town and begin the drive to Leatherwood, cell service becomes very limited and in many areas you may have no signal at all. This is normal for the region. GPS navigation on your phone may still function, but data service should not be relied upon. At Leatherwood Off-Road Park, cell phone service is extremely limited and is typically only available at higher elevations near the tops of the mountains.

In some cases, it may be possible to leave your Hummer parked overnight in the off-road park parking area. If you choose to do this, you must confirm permission directly with Leatherwood Off-Road Park staff or ownership. If permission is granted, you may leave your vehicle at the park and ride to and from the trails with another participant. This can be a helpful option if your Hummer is less comfortable or less road-oriented for longer highway drives.

Trail Maps and Navigation

Leatherwood Off-Road Park uses onX Offroad as its official trail mapping system and does not provide a traditional in-house paper trail map. The onX Offroad app is available for smartphones and tablets and provides a detailed view of the park, including trail locations, difficulty ratings, and surrounding terrain.

GPS functionality works in the Leatherwood area even when cell phone service is unavailable. For those who plan to use the app, it is strongly recommended that you download the offline map for the area ahead of time while you still have cell service. This ensures full map access while in the park.

Downloading the onX map is not required for regular event attendees. Trail leaders and the event coordinator will be using the app to navigate and guide the group through the park. If you are simply following along with a group, you do not need to have the map downloaded.

That said, some attendees may find it helpful to have their own copy of the map if they want to see where the group is within the park, understand the trail layout, or identify areas of interest they may want to explore during the event. Having the map available can add context to the trail experience but is entirely optional.

Charging Information for EV Owners

There are no EV charging stations at the event hotel. The nearest public chargers are located at the Harlan Center in downtown Harlan:

Harlan Center
201 South Main Street
Harlan, KY 40831

This location has two J1772 Level 2 chargers rated at approximately 6 kW. These are not fast chargers and are best used for topping off rather than fully recharging a GMC Hummer EV. At this power level, expect roughly 9 to 10 miles of range per hour of charging.

Availability and operation of these chargers cannot be guaranteed, so they should not be relied upon as your only charging option. GMC Hummer EV owners are encouraged to plan charging ahead of time and arrive with sufficient range for the weekend.

Katemcy Rocks 2026

Hummer Club Inc. Official Event
Hosted by Mod Mafia

Event Date: Saturday, April 10, 2026
Location: Katemcy Rocks Off-Road Park

Event Overview

The Hummer Club Inc. is heading to Katemcy Rocks Off-Road Park for a one-day off-road event hosted in partnership with Mod Mafia, a Hummer H1 specialist shop focused on parts, accessories, service, and custom builds.

Katemcy Rocks is widely known for extreme rock crawling terrain designed for highly customized and specialty-built rock crawlers and buggies. The park spans approximately 800 acres of solid granite rock, offering some of the most technical off-road driving in the country.

While the park is famous for its extreme obstacles, it also offers easy and moderate-rated trails suitable for less specialized rigs. Trail selection will be determined on-site based on the capability of the vehicles in attendance. Depending on group size and vehicle builds, participants may be split into groups running less aggressive trails and more advanced rock crawling routes.

Event Schedule and Itinerary

Friday, April 9
Mod Mafia will arrive at the park (After 1pm when the park opens) to conduct pre-runs and evaluate current trail conditions. There is no formal group run scheduled for Friday.

Off-roading continues throughout the day
Lunch will take place sometime during the day, either on the trails or at the concession stand

Mod Mafia Support

Mod Mafia will be providing mechanical support for this event. If mechanical issues arise during the day, the Mod Mafia team will be available to help address problems whenever possible.

Mod Mafia specializes in Hummer H1 parts, accessories, service, and builds, and can assist members preparing their Hummer H1 for an off-road trip to Texas or participation in other Hummer Club Inc. events. The team will also provide experienced spotters to help guide vehicles through obstacles and keep the event safe and enjoyable.

Dates: October 9-10th, 2026

Event Location: Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, Coal Township Pennsylvania

Event Description:

Join the Hummer Club at
Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) in Coal Township, Pennsylvania, one of the premier off-road destinations in the Northeast. Spanning more than 8,000 acres of reclaimed anthracite coal lands, AOAA blends Pennsylvania mining history with modern off-road recreation.

This region was once home to a thriving coal industry, and today those same hills and ridgelines have been transformed into a offroad trail system featuring everything from scenic forest roads to rocky climbs and technical terrain. The park is divided into the Eastern Reserve and Western Reserve, with a wide range of trail options suitable for everything from stock 4x4 vehicles to highly built custom rigs.

The Hummer Club has been going to AOAA since the early days of the park. Club members were present in 2013 when the visitor center first broke ground, and have experienced the park year after year as the park has expanded into what it is today. What started as an exciting new venue for off-road driving has grown into one of our most anticipated annual events. The expansive park delivers a unique off-road experience that keeps Hummer Club members coming back every season.

Optional Trail Pre-run October 8th:

For members who want an extra day of off-road driving, there will be a trail pre-run on Thursday, October 8th. This gives a chance for a smaller group to scout trail conditions, get a feel for the terrain, and assist with route planning for the main event. If you’re interested in joining the pre-run, it’s recommended that you arrive the day before, sometime on Wednesday, October 7th after 3:00pm hotel check in time, to be ready for an early start. Participants usually gather for a driver’s meeting around 8:00 AM in the hotel parking lot, although the exact timing is often flexible and left to the discretion of those attending. Since not all members arrive early, pre-run groups tend to be smaller and more casual. If you plan to participate, please contact the event coordinator ahead of time or let another club member attending the pre-run know so the group can coordinate with you.

Club Event Registration Fees:

·      Driver and Truck: $50.00

·      Passenger Fee: $50.00

·      Extra T-Shirt: $20.00

*Each registered attendee will receive an event t-shirt. T-shirt sizes will be collected during registration. Additional shirts may be purchased during registration or at the event while supplies last. Registration also includes the group dinner on Sunday evening. The group dinner information has not been finalized and is subject to changes based on total attendance*

Alternative Lodging:

While the Country Inn & Suites is the official Hummer Club hotel for this event, there are alternative lodging options. If our room block fills up, there are a few alternatives to consider.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Pottsville – (Alternative Hotel)

  • Located across the street from the official hotel the club is staying at, less than 1 mile away
  • Features on-site L2 EV Charger in the parking lot
  • May be a good option for Hummer EV owners who want overnight charging access
  • Aside from this hotel, there are no other major hotels located immediately nearby
  • Their nightly rates are higher than the Hummer Club discounted room block

Trailhead Campground – Onsite Camping Located Next To AOAA:

  • Operates as a separate entity from AOAA
  • Offers both RV sites and primitive camping
  • Reservations must be made directly through the campground website
  • Ideal option for those who prefer to camp

*Any of these lodging options are acceptable. However, it is your responsibility to ensure you meet up with the rest of the Hummer Club at the official hotel for the drivers meeting, or coordinate meeting the group directly at the park if you are staying at the campground. If you live locally and do not require lodging, that is perfectly fine as well.*

Club Group Dinner – Saturday, October 10

A group club dinner is included in the event registration fee

  • Will take place on Saturday, October 10
  • Following the second full day on the trails
  • Details are To Be Determined

The exact group dinner location will depend on total attendance and has not yet been finalized at this time. The final decision will be made by the event coordinator and is subject to changes based on group size and overall logistics.

In the past for larger events, the club has used AOAA’s on-site pavilion with catered food. The pavilion is located trailhead by the entrance, making it a convenient gathering spot. This makes sense when multiple Hummer Club trail groups are out riding and returning at different times, hosting dinner at the park simplifies coordination and eliminates the need to relocate dozens of trucks to an off-site location.

If attendance size is more manageable, the group will likely return to the Comfort Inn to allow time for members to clean up and change clothes after the trails if needed. In that case, attendees will meet at the Comfort Inn hotel entrance at 6:30 PM, and the group will depart together for dinner at a restaurant in one of the surrounding Pennsylvania towns close to the hotel.

Things To Know About the Local Area & Park:

Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area is located in a rural section of eastern Pennsylvania. The park itself is approximately 19 miles or about 30 minutes from the official club hotel. While there are small towns nearby, amenities around the official hotel are limited, so it is recommended to bring any specialty supplies or parts you may need for the weekend.

Hotel Area (Pottsville / Industrial Corridor)

The official hotel is located in a relatively secluded area surrounded primarily by commercial distribution centers. The only thing around the immediate area is a newer truck stop that opened in the past few years called ONVO Travel Plaza, located less than a mile from the hotel. It may be useful during your stay as it offers:

  • Foods, snacks and drinks
  • Contains a Burger King
  • Fuel available on site
  • Good quick-stop option before or after trail days
  • Basic supplies you would find that a truck stop

Nearby Towns

Frackville, PA – (Near The Official Hotel)

  • Approximately 7 miles or 12 minutes from the hotel
  • Small town with a few dining options
  • Some club members have gone there for dinner after trail days
  • Popular local restaurant: Dutch Kitchen

Shamokin, PA – (Near AOAA)

  • Located closer to AOAA
  • Another option for dinner or supplies after coming off the trails
  • Useful if you need something while closer to the park

Park Permits

All participants entering AOAA’s trails are required to have a valid trail pass

  • Passes are required per person
  • Park fees are separate from the Hummer Club event registration fee
  • All participants must complete the AOAA liability waiver online
  • Passes may be purchased online in advance or at the AOAA Welcome Center upon arrival

Important:

To save time and help keep on schedule, it is strongly recommended that you sign the waiver before arriving. You can also purchase your trail pass online as well or through the general store on-site. The AOAA general store is relatively small and typically has only one cashier processing permits at a time. When a large group arrives together, this can significantly delay departure to the trails.

*If you do not complete the waiver until arrival, you will need to:*

·       Locate the website link on your phone

·       Fill out the waiver information

·       Add information for any accompanying adults or minors

·       Wait for the confirmation email

·       Have the cashier locate your digital waiver you just submitted

·       After this, you will be able to buy a park pass

Trail Maps and Navigation

For maps the digital navigation option for AOAA is
onX Offroad

  • Has excellent documented trail coverage of the entire park
  • Offers detailed real time GPS navigation from your phone or tablet
  • The app does require a subscription for use

AOAA also provides its own online PDF official park maps, and the park is divided into two main riding areas:

It is worth noting that the current PDF maps available on AOAA’s website are relatively low resolution and may not be ideal for detailed viewing on a phone or tablet. Older high-resolution versions of the map can sometimes be found online, but may not be fully updated. The park also offers a paper version of their own official park maps available at the General Store when purchasing park passes

*Trail leaders and event coordinators will be familiar with the park layout and will guide groups accordingly, but having your own map can be helpful for orientation, identifying points of interest, or navigating back if needed.*

Park Access Reminder

  • The park gates close promptly at 5:00 PM
  • All vehicles must be off the trails and exiting the park by that time
  • It is important to monitor trail time accordingly

EV Charging Information for Hummer EV Owners

EV charging options near the Comfort Inn hotel are limited, so planning ahead is strongly recommended. There is a nearby Level 2 charging option that works well for overnight charging, but note that DC fast charging will require additional travel. Ideally, you should be arriving with a high percentage of charge before arriving to the hotel and have enough range to last for the day on the trails.

Level 2 Charging

Level 3 Fast Charging:

  • There are no DC fast chargers in the town where the event hotel is located
  • Nearest Level 3 chargers are located in neighboring towns about 30-45 minutes away from Comfort Inn
  • It is recommended to fast charge before arriving to maximize range

One nearby DC fast charging option:

EVgo GM Charging Station

  • Address: 2210 Camp Swatara Rd, Myerstown, PA 17067
  • Approximately 30 miles or 36 minutes away from Comfort Inn

Dates: October 23rd-24th, 2026

Event Location: Windrock Park, Oliver Springs, TN

Event Description:

The Hummer Club has been navigating the trails of the Tennessee mountains of Windrock Park for more than 20 years. Club members have watched Windrock grow from a local riding area into what is now the largest privately owned off-road park in the United States, drawing tens of thousands of riders from across the country each year. It is a place that continues to evolve, expand, and challenge drivers of every skill level.

Spanning 73,000 acres with over 300 miles of trails, Windrock Park offers more terrain than any single trip can cover. From gravel roads and forest trails to steep mountain climbs, rocky ridgelines, and technical rock crawling sections, this park has something for every type of Hummer. One visit barely scratches the surface of what Windrock has to offer, which is exactly why Hummer Club members keep coming back year after year. Around every corner, you will find sweeping mountain views, dense forests, and rugged terrain that make every mile on the trail a memorable experience.

This event is about trail time, exploration, and the camaraderie that comes with tackling one of the most iconic off-road destinations in the country. Whether you want to challenge your Hummer on demanding terrain or enjoy a more relaxed ride through the mountains, Windrock delivers an off-road experience that never gets old.

Optional Trail Prerun October 22nd:

For members who want an extra day of off-road driving, there will be a trail pre-run on Thursday, October 22nd. This prerun is a chance for a smaller group to scout trail conditions, get a feel for the terrain, and assist with route planning for the main event. If you’re interested in joining the prerun, it’s recommended that you arrive the day before, on Wednesday, October 21st, to be ready for an early start. Participants usually gather for a driver’s meeting around 9:00 AM in the hotel parking lot, although the exact timing is often flexible and left to the discretion of those attending. Since not all members arrive early, prerun groups tend to be smaller and more casual. If you plan to participate, please contact the event coordinator ahead of time or let another club member attending the event know so the group can coordinate with you.

Club Event Registration Fees:

·      Driver and Truck: $75.00

·      Guest Fee: $75.00

·      Extra T-Shirt: $20.00

*Each registered attendee will receive an event t-shirt. T-shirt sizes will be collected during registration. Additional shirts may be purchased during registration or at the event while supplies last. Registration also includes the group dinner on Sunday evening. The group dinner information has not been finalized and is subject to changes based on total attendance*
